Dulture weekly mix
What can I say, another week, another mix.
This one is gonna get you in a mood to focus on whatever it is you need to focus on. Whether it’s work. Whether it’s a workout. Whether it’s sitting on the couch and staring at the wall, I can’t think of a better mix of music that I’d want.
Thank me later.
The Drink Everyone’s Reaching For This Spring 🍸✨
Spring doesn’t have to mean a packed schedule and another drink you regret tomorrow.
This season, I’m reaching for something different: Vesper by Pique.
Pique is known for blending ancient botanicals with modern science to create elevated wellness essentials. Vesper might be my favorite yet. It’s a non-alcoholic, adaptogenic aperitif that delivers the relaxed, social glow of a cocktail. Without alcohol or the next-day fog.
It’s what I pour when I want something special in my glass on a bright spring evening. Each sip feels celebratory and uplifting. Relaxed body. Clear mind. No haze. No sleep disruption.
Crafted with L-theanine, lemon balm, gentian root, damiana, and elderflower, Vesper is sparkling, tart, and beautifully herbaceous.
If you’re ready for a new kind of happy hour, try Vesper here. 🌿✨
The first music festival I ever went to was the Vans Warped Tour circa 2003ish. Aside from all the emo music, the one thing I vividly remember is coming home, blowing my nose, and only dirt came out.
Sorry, I know, what a way to kick off a newsletter lol.
I learned my lesson about music festivals though:
You don’t wear clothes you care about.
You’re not going to come home clean.
And you’re sure as hell not walking out with your shoes looking the same as you walked in.
I’m sure there’s a bunch of other lessons but we’ll keep it PG
I remember walking around thinking, HA look at all these haggard people dressed like bums.
Little did I know I’d be leaving Warped Tour looking like I ate dirt all day.
Don’t you just love all the glamorous festival pics people post online? Looking comfy, clean, refreshed, throwing peace signs up to nobody…
Obviously that’s the Coachella experience, right?

The one thing I’ve learned from going to my fair share of music festivals is 1) you’re gonna stand for a SUPER LONG TIME all day and 2) your shoes matter more than your outfit - meaning who cares what you’re wearing as long as your feet are comfortable.
Because…

Left = Everyday wear
Right = Music festival

It pays to be a sneaker head when you’re about to spend 10 hours on your feet waiting for that last headliner to show up 45 minutes late on stage.
(I swear I’m not this cynical in real life, I’ve just been to my fair share of music festivals…also why is it always rappers??)
While all of y’all been hung up on Justin Bieber playing YouTube videos on stage, I’ve been doing the real Coachella journalism.

Yes, there’s a guy on the internet looking for your beat up Coachella shoes and rumour has it, he’ll pay top dollar for them too.
Dude hasn’t appeared on Reddit for this year’s festival yet but if I were you, I’d start getting those dank used-to-be white AF1’s ready 💰 💰💰
The Most Wonderful Time of the Year
One minute you’re reading about how bad the dunk competition was and the next the NBA playoffs are starting.

Man I love this time of year.
Every basketball game is fun to watch - either they go down to the wire and we see the next Robert Horry emerge or there’s a blow out and you wonder why they haven’t traded DeMar DeRozan yet.

The East is WIDE OPEN. So if you’re looking for a series to watch, any and all of the East is going to be fun basketball because who knows what’s going to happen.
And as usual, the West has great matchups and storylines brewing.

Yeah I know - sometimes it’s nice to go down memory lane
Look no further than Lakers/Rockets. No Dončić, no Reaves, just LeBron and Lebron Jr. to hold down the fort. Jk Jk. Playoff Bron is usually a force to be reckoned with but I dunno man, when KD is on, ain’t no one stopping that man. It’ll be fun to watch KD vs Bron though - probably our last time seeing them face off in the playoffs.
I’m also paying attention to:

The Spurs in general - after how angry Wemby got losing the All-Star game, my gut reaction was this guy is gonna go beast mode in the playoffs. I really want Wemby to win, he reminds me of the classic 90’s center (minus all the 3’s) that just wanted to dominate and had no friends on the opposing team.

You already know broski
I’m a Toronto kid so I’m obviously watching the Raptors, who have a decent shot in getting to the next round and maybe beyond. I know most of you probably don’t care for the Raptors but when they’re ON, there’s not a lot of defenses that can stop Scottie Barnes / Brandon Ingram / RJ Barrett / Immanuel Quickley.

And then for one reason or another, I just like watching the Knicks play. I was cheering for them in the ECF’s last year and will be cheering for them again. Zesty KAT and crew look like they have a lot of fun as a team.
I think the Thunder are going to repeat again though 🤷♂
Holy Hadouken
Ok ok ok - now we’re frikken talking…
Yesterday renewed my faith in live action remakes of fighting video games.
While I hope this film is nothing like the 1994 Jean-Claude Van Damme Street Fighter film, I do hope it takes as much as possible from other tournament fighter films, including cult classics from JCVD’s archive.

I hope it has the tension and drama that built up in Kickboxer from having to face the final fight against Tong Po.

And then I hope it has the diverse character build up of Bloodsport…it probably will.
While the OG Mortal Kombat film did a decent job in building up the fight by fight storyline leading to the eventual fight with Liu Kang and Shang Tsung (RIP), what we really need from a great Street Fighter movie is something more like this:

Or at least the classic lead up where Bruce Lee fights through a “5 story pagoda”, each fight getting harder and harder until he squares off against Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
So much potential for fight fans / Street Fighter fans in this film and so much what NOT to do that you hope Kitao Sakurai has taken all the notes.
Street Fighter comes out on October 16th.
Speaking of Fighting
Wrestlemania 42 comes to us live on Netflix this Saturday and Sunday.
As much as I don’t really pay attention to wrestling outside of the occasional stream on Netflix, I gotta say, they do a really good job in promoting themselves all over the place on social media.
Like Jey Uso fighting Cam’ron LOL…

Roman Reigns apparently cut his best promo ever…in a car

iShowSpeed is officially competing in a tag team match with Logan Paul and others.

But the biggest potential story of all.

Wrestlemania is also in Vegas, fyi.
