Dulture weekly mix

This week I’ve decided to take you back a spring mix from a year ago. One thing I don’t do well with is revisiting things. Like, when I’m done a TV show I’m done with it - I’ll probably never watch Succession ever again, although I wasn’t super impressed with the ending to begin with - it all felt a bit like a cop out, like the writers gave up.

This week I’m going against everything I stand for - I’ve decided to take you back a spring mix from a year ago.

Happy frigging Friday.

The Matcha That Ruined All Other Matcha

As winter softens into spring, many of us crave energy that feels clean and steady. Not the jittery spike-and-crash kind.

That’s why I keep coming back to Sun Goddess Matcha by Pique. It’s easily the best matcha I’ve tasted.

In a market full of dull, bitter powders, this ceremonial-grade matcha stands apart for both flavor and purity. Crafted by Japanese tea masters and shaded 35% longer, it’s naturally rich in antioxidants and L-theanine to support calm focus and balanced energy.

The result is vibrant, smooth matcha that carries you through brighter mornings and fuller days. No spikes. No crashes. Just sustained energy that works with your body.

If you’re ready for a better morning ritual, try Sun Goddess Matcha here. 🌿🍵

On the rare occasion when Public Service Announcement by Jaÿ-Z would get played in the club back in the day, I knew it was going to be a damn good night.

“Allow me to reintroduce myself” rolls off my tongue like “In west Philadelphia born and raise, on the playground…” I’m sure you know the rest.

Dulture just crossed the 20,000 subscribers!

It’s so mind blowing that you read this weekly and make it through my rants. So it’s only right I give you a bit (more) about who the guy is who writes the thing weekly.  Especially for those of you who are new here (firstly welcome, secondly, thank you for sticking around)

Allow me to reintroduce myself.

I’ve started and stopped so many blog-type things but one thing remained across all of them - if I was going to write, I was writing how I would enjoy reading something.

One of my most favourite things I’ve ever written is: “What it was like to live in Toronto during the rise of Drake” - this was back in the first few years of his career where he wasn’t the biggest just yet but everyone knew something special was happening.

Dulture is none of this fluffy corporate but-make-it-sound-cool, jargon.

I always want my readers to read what I write and know that if you and I had a conversation, you’d feel like we had already met before.

Yes that’s Paul Wall

The other side to this equation is I love culturally relevant “stuff”.  Action Bronson and Yachty look like they’re releasing music together soon, that’s cool to me because I’m a big Action Bronson fan.

Or Rich Kleiman (KD’s manager) goes on a podcast and talks about his relationship with KD and his hustle mentality building alongside Kevin - that’s also cool to me.

The point is I pay attention to the internet so much that I’m the one dancing to Bazooka in the kitchen weeks before my 14 yr old’s friends come over and tell me about the song.

There’s always been too many voices online trying to get your attention with click bait, BS lies, or just poor quality content

This is why I started Dulture - curate a lot of what we already see while making it interesting and fun to read.

I love writing. I love the culture. The fact that you click the email when you see Dulture in your inbox means a lot to me. Thank you, reader, whoever you are.

And I’ve already said it before but feel free to respond to the email, it’s me who gets all responses - the last one I got was “Piss off Andrew!” LOL (I’m cool if you want to actually chop it up too though)

Sneaker Free Agent Extraordinaire

Who knows when the F Steph Curry will finally pick a shoe brand and stick with it.

Does Steph even need to stick with a shoe brand?

I don’t know about you but I’ve enjoyed seeing Steph rock every shoe brand known to mankind, while not shying away from the most culturally relevant shoes we’ve ever seen in our lifetime.

From Jordan’s to Pumas, to Li Ning’s (I actually thought he was gonna sign with a Chinese brand given how massive he is in China), there’s been no stone left unturned when it came to what Steph Curry wore on his feet over the past 5 months.

However the time has come to auction off all of these shoes, as one naturally does when they have access to any shoe on the planet.

Steph Curry is putting up a lot of 75 pairs of shoes on a Sotheby’s auction. Shoes are expected to go for anywhere between $3000 to upwards to $50,000. A lot of the shoes are either signed or rare grails.

The shoes are categorized by “tunnel worn”, “warmup worn” and "game worn”. What’s crazy to me is someone had to keep track of all of these shoes for him and note when he wore all of them.

And I’ll be honest, with some of the grails he pulled up to arenas in, I would not mind at all keeping tabs on what he was wearing.

The auction goes live on April 13th here.

This Collab Makes Too Much Sense

How can you not love Action Bronson?

Although I miss the Vice version of F*ck, That’s Delicious, his YouTube channel is peak entertainment if you love watching travel/food/culture type stuff.

Not to mention dude has been quietly/not-so-quietly crushing the shoe game with his New Balance collab over the past few years.

And he’s obviously a great lyricist - new music on the way.

But something popped into my head this week after seeing this…

What if dude who specializes in life collab-ed with Uniqlo, the biggest lifewear brand in the world?

Obviously there would be the tee’s that take you on a food tour.

C’monnnnnn

Then you’ve got the basic everyday pieces that you’d see Action rocking while walking down the sidewalk in Queens looking for that Roti spot.

Yes, that’s a GARLIC BULB

And you’ll always see this guy rocking shorts no matter the season but he never forgets to put on a jacket.

Baklava Lifewear - c’mon, this collab makes sense doesn’t it?  Someone send this to Action’s people - let’s manifest this Uniqlo collab.

How to: Ruin a Scary Movie

Calling all scaredy cats, I’ve got an app for you.

I love horror movies because of the general emotion they force you to feel - they either scare you to shit or you laugh because of how corny they are - either way, there’s emotion.

For those of you who like horror movies but don’t like jump scares (not sure why you’d want to watch a horror movie willingly?) there’s an app for that!

But hang on, isn’t the purpose of horror films to get surprised, shocked, or just generally freaked out?

Binge, basically an all in one app that enables you to track everything from movies to TV shows, to the actors, studios, and all kinds of stuff in between across any streaming service or theatre or whatever, has this one little feature...

Powered by Apple’s live activity notifications, you tell the app when the movie starts and from then on, you’ll get live activities - think of the thing that pops up when your food is on the way but instead you get told when the scary part is coming up.

So if you wanted to ruin horror movies for yourself this app is for you lol.  Jokes aside, for those of you who won’t watch a scary movie, does knowing the scary part is coming up make you want to watch one now?

Would you watch (more) scary movies because of this app?
