Dulture weekly mix
There was a point in my life where the music video decided if I liked a song or not. The more interesting the music video, the more I’d like the song. The less going on in the MV, the less I liked it.
Kinda like a Pop Up Video situation - IYKYK.
For me, the standout music videos tended to come from The Beastie Boys. Sabotage - need I say more? This week’s mix reminds you that they like their sugar with coffee and cream.
Yo, I had the strangest dream this week.
Do you write your dreams down? I know they say it’s good to do, especially if you want to remember them but like, anyone actually wake up and immediately write down what just happened?
Lemme tell what you happened in my dream this week and DISCLAIMER, don’t get all political while you’re reading this, just take it with a grain a salt.
IT WAS A DREAM AFTER ALL

So it starts out and I’m watching some clip online of Trump walking from his helicopter to a building and he’s dressed how he normally would be but he’s got these all white kicks on - like a fresh pair of something.

Like this but imagine all white Air Force 1’s (ironic, I know)
And then I see another clip and again, Trump’s got on a fresh pair of all white shoes.
I’m thinking, this is interesting, who’s trying to hype Trump’s style up?
And then later on, I’m standing in the hallway of my local community centre waiting for my kid’s to finish swimming lessons and Nancy Pelosi is standing there waiting too.
Hahahaha yo, I’m Canadian and barely pay attention to US politics - like, I THINK I know what Nancy Pelosi looks like but honestly, I’ve just heard her name more often because I hear she’s a master stock trader. SO I’M JUST ASSUMING IT’S HER.
Moving on…
So I go up to her and I’m like, “Sorry, just a quick question, did you guys get a memo to start wearing sneakers now?” It’s funny because IDGAF - this is actually something I’d be asking a high ranking politician. I loved talking shoes to all the execs when I was in the corporate world.
Side note: When I worked at IBM I became pretty good friends with the CFO, to the point where I’d just walk into his office unannounced, while he was on some call talking about millions of dollars of blah blah blah.
One day I’m wearing shoes from one of Pharrell’s OG Adidas collections and I walk in the office and the COO for the country is sitting there with him. She looks down at my shoes and was like, wow, those are nice! And I say, they’re Pharrell’s and she says, “Yeah, I know!”.
She had no clue wtf she was talking about - bless her corporate heart.

These are a GREAT office shoe btw
Back to the dream…
So Nancy responds with, “Yes, we did actually get a memo - we’re supposed to upgrade our shoes” and she shows me these clean, slim red women’s boots she’s wearing.

And I go, “Yo, those look like the MSCHF boots but smaller, have you seen them before?” And she says, “Of course, I got them (MSCHF) to make me a custom pair for the office.” And I stand there just amazed that firstly she knows who MSCHF is, and secondly the boots looked fire.
And then my alarm wakes me up - dreams never have a clean ending, do they?
This is your sign to start wearing whatever you want on your feet to the office, just tell your boss Nancy Pelosi said so 🤣
The World of NBA Podcasts
It’s gotten to a point where I don’t think there’s any other professional sport out there that has produced as many podcasts as the NBA has.
I used to listen to The Ringer all the time, until I just got tired of how bias Bill Simmons was - I get it, I’m sure you love him if you’re a Celtics fan.
I remember listening in 2019 when the Raptors were making their championship run and all he could talk about was LeBrOn oN tHe LaKeRs - bruh.

I agree with ALL OF THIS (Bill Simmons ugh)
Bill Simmons turned me off from listening to anything in the NBA because I knew it’d just be some BS.
Then all of the sudden all these podcasts sprouted up and guys were talking about more than just hot takes to piss people off (lol).
If you’re on the hunt for something new to listen to and don’t mind it having a bit of a basketball flavour to it, lemme give you a run down:
NBA lore mixed with pop culture
Club 520 has become THE PODCAST TO CLIP because of all the wild Jeff Teague stories. I’m having a hard time picking just one so f*ck it, here’s a funny one of the time Jeff Teague wanted to fight Blake Griffin - the KD impression is HILARIOUS 😂
The last full conversation we got from Kobe
At the time, All the Smoke was only on episode 11 and they already had Kobe on, unfortunately a couple weeks before he passed. All the Smoke has been known for their vast array of top calibur guests, Kobe early on was a prime example.
Didn’t know I’d like Melo as much as I do
7PM in Brooklyn is a bit of a sleeper podcast pick. You’d think you’d have to be a Carmelo Anthony fan to enjoy this one but honestly, this podcast is a good listen. You can tell they do their research and ask really good questions that lead to really interesting stories. Melo’s wide range of relationships with the guests unlocks some really good stories. If you haven’t seen this, you gotta watch this 👇
Bonus: Cousins
Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady just released episode 1 of their podcast called "Cousins”, because yes they’re cousins, and yes they talk about how they didn’t even know they were cousins at first. I’m listening so far because I am a big VC fan (Raptors, obviously) - would I enjoy this if I wasn’t a VC fan…maybe? I think it’s worth a try though if you need something new on your commute.
Prepare Your Eyes For RED

Nintendo is bringing back their worst selling console of all time - because why not?
I remember playing VIRTUAL BOY as a kid and thinking, it was cool but why did everything need to be RED? The games were 3D-ish, which at the time in like 1995, was a VERY big deal.

The only console where you prop it up like its a camera on picture day
This is one of those moments where I’m sure someone in Nintendo was like, f*ck it, let’s just re-release the thing, who cares.
And it kinda makes sense. Nintendo has been releasing and expanding its library of games online from prior consoles for years now so why not put Virtual Boy games in the library too.
Virtual Boy will be released as an accessory for the Switch 2 on February 17th but instead of the headset thing having the screen/game inside of it, you’ll connect the Switch 2 screen to it to play.
You’ll also be able to toggle colours for the screen from red to white to yellow to blue. The thing is, 3D gaming when this console first came out was a novel idea but now it’s par for the course, and done in more than one colour.
There’s never been a console that’s been the worst selling, and then re-released only to become the worst selling AGAIN. I think Nintendo will graciously achieve this later on this year 🤷♂
This Week in Kanye Land
Firstly, let’s get this out of the way:
We haven’t gotten a crazy public rant from Ye in a while and now we know why.
A couple days ago Ye took out an ad in the Wall Street Journal (of all places) apologizing for his actions for the last lords knows how many years now.
He equated his actions to brain damage from the famous 2002 car crash he had where he ended up getting his jaw wired shut, and would later record while said jaw was still wired shut a notorious classic track, Through the Wire.
As a result of the brain damage, Ye goes on to say this created his bipolar disorder, which he says was misdiagnosed as autism years prior and only accurately diagnosed in 2023.
Long story less long, Ye apologizes, says he loves Jewish people, and recognizes he doesn’t deserve our sympathy and is focused on only positive things moving forward.
A day later an interview is published with Vanity Fair where he clarifies that the apology wasn’t meant as a PR thing (of course one would say this) even though his album, Bully, is slated to come out in the near future.
Ye is also performing in Mexico City this weekend.
Lastly, Ye mentions that Graduation was the most streamed hiphop album in 2025, basically saying he doesn’t need the PR to promote Bully.
To be a Kanye fan (tired of saying Ye) is exceptionally hard, man.
You’re basically constantly juxtaposing the amazing things he’s created from music, to fashion, to just ideas (see: Donda) with all the dumbass things he’s said and done.
The hard part for me is I’m not bipolar nor do I know anyone who suffers from it so it’s hard for me to jump to conclusions. It’s like, if someone was suffering from any mental illness, and they kept doing destructive things and kinda getting help, but then not staying consistent with that help, what exactly do you do?
Do we sit around and wait to see what happens next? Do we give yet another chance to dude?
Maybe I’m just thinking too deeply about a stranger I don’t really know.
Or maybe I just miss this person:
