If there’s one thing the winter taught me, it was how to swear like a sailor right after getting into my car because of how cold it was. Now that the weather has warmed up a bit, I’ve come to realize the swearing thing is actually a new habit I’ve formed, regardless of the weather.
You should try it too - get in, close the door, and give it your best curse words. It feels really good, especially when you couple it with your favourite music right after.
Just like this mix. Before you turn it on just yell your favourite swear word, it’ll magically be 10x better before it even starts. Promise.

Throughout history there have been 100’s of “golden ages” - defined by Google as a peak period of prosperity and achievement.
The Spanish had their own. The Chinese had their own. Heck even Hollywood had its own Golden Age with the dawn of the studio system.

The Hollywood sign was originally a real estate developer’s sign promoting a development called “Hollywoodland”. It got so much attention it was just left up, and “land” was removed.
The 90’s is the last ‘Golden Age’ we lived through.
Which is partially why 90’s nostalgia has been hitting so hard lately.
It was the last time we knew simplicity without tech being fully everywhere.
You got a massive generation who now have purchasing power to influence the things they grew up with.
It was the ‘Golden Age’ for culture - grunge music, rise of hiphop, MTV, iconic TV shows and films that still hold up today
And it’s the birth place of this shoe.

Although look at those AJ5’s just casually sitting there
In honour of Air Max Day, I did some digging. Because for years my memory was that Nike didn’t make kid sizes of adult shoes in the 90’s - I always wanted a pair of Infrared 90’s back then but they didn’t make them in a kid’s size.
Well it turns out they did make a lot of the adult shoes in kids sizes but instead of an air bubble, they’d just use foam or plastic and make it look like an air bubble was there - I vaguely remember seeing this but I always wanted a shoe with an air bubble so it was disappointing.
WHY DIDN’T NIKE PUT AN AIR BUBBLE IN KID’S SHOES IN THE 90’s?
Nike discovered kids aren’t very heavy.
Nike’s whole shtick was that the air bubble in the shoe would provide your foot with cushioning, but only if the wearer had enough body weight to compress the air cushion, therefore feeling the padding.
For a 50 lb kid who wasn’t heavy enough to push down on the air bubble, it would’ve felt like walking on a hard plastic brick, so Nike “foamed out” the air bubbles to make it look like something was “there”, like the adult shoe.
It looked mad stupid.

Nike Sky Force
It’s like Nike gave up on kid sizes in the 90’s.

Nike Air Force Max…these scream 1993
Of course I eventually grew up got my Infrareds.
(And you should get yours too)
Hov Is Back…But For How Long?
What’s wild to me is Jaÿ-Z could be seen as this mythical hiphop legend to a whole generation of people. Meanwhile my generation (millennials) are like, it’s about damn time Dead Presidents is on Spotify.
Hov announced he would be headlining The Roots picnic in Philly in May and then 3 shows at Yankee Stadium in July, one for the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt, one for the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint, and then a third “Extra Innings” show.
The shows obviously sold out immediately but you can always get resale tickets from Ticketmaster. Why does it feel so weird to buy resale tix off of Ticketmaster??

This past week GQ put out a SUUUUPER rare interview that Frazier Tharpe did with Jaÿ.
If you’re a Jaÿ-Z fan, this was easily the best interview he’s ever done.
Jaÿ opened up right away about the 2025 allegations against him and how angry he became over them and just simply having to deal with them, given he’s lived and died by street code - “no women, no kids”.

Given it’s been something like a decade since we’ve gotten a formal sit down from Hov, you know the conversation was going to be sprinkled with gems all over - “I had to not get a deal in order to become who I am today”.

It’s so dope hearing him talk about his daughter and how much she worked to be on stage dancing at her mom’s shows. If you’re a dad, you’ll really appreciate this part especially.

Jaÿ speaks on the Kendrick v Drake beef and you can tell he didn’t appreciate how the internet took it into a spectrum of nonsense - from the, and I’m paraphrasing, dumbass allegations on both sides to the internet jumping on opinions instead of just enjoying the music. “I don’t know if battling needs to be part of the culture anymore - I hate that I have that point of view.”

Like I said, this is an all time interview. Whether it’s Hov, hiphop, or culture, whatever you like, this is a good use of 30 mins of your time.
When Art Imitates Early 2000’s Life
I don’t know how long it’s going to last for but you gotta admit, the late 90’s / early 2000’s themes popping up everywhere is a vibe.
What technically is laughable by today’s capabilities of a kid in grade 6, is what the internet wants more of.

Earlier this month Coinbase (yes the crypto app) released a short film called, “Your way out” that centered around an NPC living in a 2D/3D world, trying to “escape” - straight outta something you would’ve played in 2001 while chugging root beer.

The entire film is made to look like it’s all computer rendered graphics but every single person in it is a human actor, trained to walk like an NPC while wearing a 2D mask.
The effect you get as the viewer is something out of Goldeneye for the N64.
Alongside the actors, everything they wore, the sets, and things they interacted with were 2D printed and hand painted to ensure there was no detail that fell out of place. What you end up getting is the below.

Teaching people how to be NPC’s
This is so brilliant.

We Almost Lost The Internet Forever
What would you do if there was no more internet?
Well firstly you’d never read this again! Btw, I’ll need your home address in the event the internet shuts down for good, Dulture must live on 💪 (jk!)
I was today year’s old when I found out the entire internet almost came crashing down in 2024.
The internet almost broke because of a tiny, hidden trapdoor planted by “Jia Tan” inside a super‑common piece of compression software almost all servers use across the entire internet - websites, apps, you name it. Jia (an actual hacker) pretended to be a helpful volunteer and slowly snuck in a secret way to take control of those machines.
However, none of it happened because an engineer named Andres Freund noticed something felt slightly off, like a login being a bit slower than normal, later looked into it, and caught the trapdoor before it could spread to big systems.
A guy by the name of Lasse Collin single-handedly manages that piece of compression software, the software that if compromised, would’ve taken the entire internet down.
So basically the internet is one giant Jenga tower.
