Japan continues to be so hot right now. Mayonaka no Door (Stay with Me) is the track everyone references when they do their Japan montages - I swear you know exactly what song I’m talking about!
There’s more to Japanese music than 80’s City Pop…although lowkey I’ll throw on a city pop playlist every now and again - no idea what they’re saying but it sounds good.
Speaking of no idea what they’re saying but it sounds good - I present to you a Japanese rap mix this week. If you’ve never listened to Japanese rap (which I assume you haven’t), you need to give this playlist a shot.
Amongst a bunch of lit artists, it features Yuki Chiba (he did the “Star Star Star” song with Megan The Stallion, and Miyachi, one of the most talented rappers you’ve never heard of. Dude can hold his own against any English rapper, I promise you.
No idea what they’re saying but it sounds really good!

I’m not a watch guy. I’ve tried - I just can’t do it.
For those of you who are watch people, I applaud you because I’m sure you own something that you think looks cool and maybe you wear it regularly or pull it out when you want to flex on the world.
I’m not saying I’ve owned anything crazy but I’ve had a couple nice pieces that I’ve been complimented on in the past.

I wore this watch for a few years - Nixon always has rad stuff
But I always put the watch away and then just forget about it.
In the case of my Apple Watch, I just forgot to charge it and then just said screw it and now it collects dust (currently on my nightstand).
I’ve also always assumed owning a good watch meant putting down some serious cash. I could be totally wrong but lemme run with my ignorance for a minute. The Richard Mille’s, the Patek’s, the Rolex’s, the AP’s - the list goes on and on.
Swatch x Audemars Piguet just made it slightly easier to own a piece of luxury.

I guess this is considered luxury right? Given it’s a luxury collab?
The Royal Pop collection is a series of pocket watches that look a bit like an AP but with Swatch styling, connected to a lanyard so you can…wear it around your neck like how the 57 yr old in your company wears their company ID badge.

These are supposed to retail for somewhere around $400 USD, which is about 60x less than the price of an AP - which means expect these to hit the resale market IMMEDIATELY when they come out tomorrow.
Super curious who even rocks a pocket watch anymore…or are y’all gonna try to start a new trend on how to wear them?
When I saw this watch collab I immediately thought of the AJ1 Dior’s and how much people wanted them because they were also considered luxury.
Then I remembered oh wait, these shoes retailed for $2000 and still sold out immediately…so good luck to those of you trying to cop a pocket watch tomorrow.

These shoes are now easily 4-6x their retail price of $2000…I still want them.
ICE MAN IS HERE + 2 More Albums

So I’m sitting here watching Drake’s live stream of Ice Man and enjoying the f*ck out of it. Hate him or love him, this album release stream was exceptionally well done.
The whole Ice Man stream had a strong Kanye West Runaway vibe to it.
If you haven’t watched this, you absolutely should - this was cinema:
Back to Drake.
So I get through the livestream and he puts three hard drives down on a table and all of the sudden…

Dawg I planned on staying up late for one album - not 3 lol. That said, we’ll start with Ice Man and work our way through *yawn*
Ice Man
Like every classic Drake hiphop album, Make Them Cry opens telling you where he’s been, what’s been up to, how he’s been feeling and then eases you back into who he is.
The amount of subliminals and not so sumblinals on this album is crazy. Drake has a lot to get off his chest on this album. It also sounds like his team was ready to go jail back in 2024 and Drake (probably his management) had to walk them off the cliff a few times.
Or maybe it’s all just to make the songs sound harder - either way, all the people who turned their back on him because of the Kendrick beef really affected him and he has a ton to get off his chest on this album.
Ran To Atlanta goes so hard, idgaf. I barely like Future but when I heard this during the live stream I was instantly captivated and now listening to the full version, sheesh - this will be BLASTED in my car after I drop my kids off at school (LOL).
Speaking of not so subliminal, DJ Khaled has some answering to do after Make Them Pay...”people are still waiting for a 'Free Palestine,' but apparently everything isn't black and white and red and green.”
We won’t see any IG stories of Lebron playing any of this music.
1AM in Albany, the track that leaked online yesterday all over the internet was NOT featured on any of these albums. It was also the track where Drake annihilates Lebron.
Maid of Honour
This has Honestly Nevermind vibes all over it - Drake threw a ton of summer tracks all over this album.
Cheetah Print is going to be played EVERYWHERE, it’s like a Megazord of songs to make sure it works no matter where you go - just wait til you see it all over TikTok.
Tell me you don’t hear Kanye on Princess - which I actually would’ve preferred to hear tbh, this track doesn’t suit Drake unless he plans on making more albums with this vibe but I think this was an experimental throwaway to just tuck into the ending of the album.
Maid of Honour extends Drake’s range a bit if you’re into funky electronic beats mixed with RnB vibes. If you wanted hiphop or rap, you’re not getting that from this album, though.
Habibti
Essentially a classic Drake RnB album but honestly it feels like there were one too many throwaways in his pocket so he decided to put another album together. As the album opens I’m thinking maybe there’s an experimental sound but no, it becomes that classic RnB / if I went to strip clubs this is the kind of music I picture I’m hearing (not a bad thing, just the vibe).
The album opens with this emo acoustic vibe, almost expected Shaboozey to jump out.
Throw away comments aside, Habibti flows through the RnB abyss, like a good album to just have on in the background late at night do stuff or doing nothing at all. I think this one is gonna grow on me immensely, it’s just mfking 1AM and I need to be up in like 5 hrs lol. And I know this because Classic has a crazy 90’s TLC vibe, all you millennials will dig this track.
Whoosh 3 albums in one night 🫠 🫠 🫠

This was cool to see tho
Sega’s Failure is Our Win

In 2021 (seems like 20 years ago) Sega announced “Super Game” which was dubbed their Game as a Service (GaaS) platform where gamers could log into this massive universe and play games for free, inspired by the Fortnite model.
The idea was that Sega would release “AAA” titles aka some of their most popular franchises into this world and you would go and get addicted to them and hopefully spend money on in-game purchases like my mom does in Candy Crush.
Five years later and ain’t no one at Sega want a metaverse gaming experience anymore.
Three reasons:
Weak market performance - Sega’s Sonic Rumble and acquisition of Angry Birds has shown decline in sales/monetization.
Established competitors - Sega doesn’t think it can pull people away from the likes of Roblox and Fortnite given how slow development has been. GTA 6 is also on its way, which fits into this world too.
Dolla dolla bills y’all - When you run free to play games someone has to pay, given Sega had already sunk millions of dollars into this and still wasn’t done, they were set to lose a good chunk of change without any guaranteed upside.

So there were 5 titles Sega planned on releasing in this now failed project, which were originally just being developed for said project. However, the teams working on this abomination have now moved over to solely focus on the five titles.
Sega has already released the first one: Shinobi: Art of Vengenace (frigging amazing)

Ever since the 90’s Shinobi games have always been mad hard
The others are reboots of:
Crazy Taxi

I guess you can be a cop car in it now too?
Golden Axe

I’ve seen clips and it looks fun but I’d be more excited to stumble into an old school Golden Axe arcade machine tbh.
Jet Set Radio

This footage is from 2023, fun game from back in the day though
Streets of Rage

I’m more of a Final Fight kind of guy but let’s see…
So alas, one massive failed project at Sega gives us a flurry of new games to look forward to over the next year - that is until GTA 6 comes out…then all bets are off.
Is It Gambling Or….?
You ever play Blackjack online and this happens…
It always feels so sketchy playing a table game in an online casino, I don’t know how these streamers make money, reminder that these streamers get paid to play which means either it’s not their money or there’s something favourable fishy going on when they play.
The odds of pulling the exact same ace 4 times in a row is 1 in 25 million, so yeah, that should tell you all you need to know about playing in an online casino.
This week was a reminder that if you’re going to gamble do it on sports or go in person where it at least feels like you have a bit more control of the action.
But if this wasn’t a reminder enough, check out what happened to Adin Ross…and no he didn’t get her fired BUT it was pretty wild nonetheless.
Or the time the dealer didn’t scan the card properly on the RFID thing they use when they pull cards out and this happened:
I will do a thing on these casinos one day - from their dealers constantly yawning because they look like they’re in a sweat shop to the sketchy antics going on with the deck of cards in every game, to the fact that Latvia is somehow the mecca for the studios that run these live games for websites - I will do this one day, mark my words!
You’re like, yeah whatever random guy who sends me a newsletter every week, why did I even read this far.
(Thank you 🤗 )
