Why do we only remember things when we’re driving? I guess the mind wanders and you’re helplessly remembering stuff while you sit in gridlock traffic? I dunno.
This week the vivid memory of the first time I heard The Score by The Fugees hit me and I immediately thought of you guys.
“They’ll appreciate this! Yeaaaaaa”
Frankly I just wanted to put together a Wyclef and Lauryn Hill playlist. You may not even know who tf they are haha. It’s fine, you’ll still like this.
Unless you’re my mom, she told me she doesn’t listen to the playlists. Please follow the playlist so I can tell her it’s got 1000’s of people following it.
In 2007 the most famous Supreme photo tee was born out of a Las Vegas hotel room and one angry Mike Tyson.
Supreme did their first photo tee in 2005 with Wu-Tang’s Raekwon and his body guard. James Jebbia’s idea was to document the characters who represented counter-culture, while indirectly promoting the brand.
Jebbia’s love of boxing eventually lead to photographing Mike Tyson for a tee.
Mike had just retired 2 years prior and was still super jacked so Supreme made a 1 of 1 XXXL shirt that to this day is one of the most coveted box logo shirts (wherever it is) because of its size, the higher than normal logo placement, and Tyson’s signature on the shirt.

Mike was in no mood for a photo shoot that day 👆
The story goes Tyson kept cursing out photographer Kenneth Cappello and intimidating the crew.
In between all of that, he shared his philosophies on graffiti and his admiration for those who put tags up 1000’s of feet in the air where no one would understand it anyway.
When the shoot was over, Mike signed the custom box logo tee for Cappello as a peace offering and abruptly left leaving the crew in shock.
There was no campaign for the tee - people just showed up to the Supreme store and saw the tee’s. They obviously became grails, to the point where the posters in the streets were being ripped down and framed.

Yesterday a Supreme x Martine Rose collection came out with Mike Tyson front and centre.
And of course everything is already sold out.

Jaÿ-Z <> Rick Rubin
When this Jaÿ-Z & Rick Rubin docuseries was first announced I was excited the same way I was excited when NBC announced Michael Jordan would be part of the broadcast.
And then NBC just filmed one interview and cut it into 5 short segments.
My excitement died.
The same way it did after episode 2 of 8 of Jaÿ-Z in 8.
Hov traditionally hasn’t done a whole lot of interviews and when he has it hasn’t exactly been a riveting performance.

Although the one he did with Frazier Tharpe earlier this year was pretty decent.
So again, I was looking forward to this docuseries with Rick Rubin given the two of them have done “so much” together.

At first I was like, okay this is mad cool - Rick plays tracks from Jay’s endless discography and the two of them nod their heads to the beats.
And then Jaÿ talks about the song, personal stories and all.
And then Rick plays music again, and Jaÿ talks again.
And then this repeats for 8 episodes.
And then you’re wondering if all you get is just “I remember when…” stories from Jaÿ-Z and the answer is yes.
And not all of them are all that interesting.

I mean, it’s pretty good if you’re a diehard Hov fan. Then this is 8 episodes of heaven for you.
Jaÿ is one of my favourite rappers of all time by FAR. But after 3 episodes of Rick Rubin agreeing with everything Hov is saying, while sprinkling in Rick Rubin philosophy, it kinda gets old.
They filmed the thing over 2 days. I don’t know if this really needed to be 8 episodes long.
Kudos to you if you didn’t get tired after 8 episodes.
Are you a Jaÿ-Z fan?
Are Arcades Coming Back F’Real?
I knewwwww it, I’ve been talking about this for years now and I still have my collection HAAA.

This Y2K / 90’s analog trend isn’t a trend - it’s a legit movement back to balancing our frigging lives out.
I was talking to my wife yesterday about how I keep getting urges to play the arcade table top we have in the basement...it currently functions as a table we use for drinking.
I don’t know about you but I’m just getting tired of being connected all the damn time.
When it comes to gaming, I just want to pick up something and play it and not feel like I need to commit half a year to playing the game.
I’ll say it, I miss arcades man.

Apparently there’s a low-key revival potentially happening.
NQ JPN is about to open next weekend in London which is the latest spot in the world that is supposed to emulate the traditional arcade experience...alongside drinks (I’m okay with drinks).
If you live in Long Island City, NY, Retro Recess will be opening in the near future. This place looks like it’s gonna be a legit arcade + drinks.
In Torrance, Cali, 2nd Loop Arcade opened earlier this year and it’s basically what you would come across if you went to an Asian arcade back in the 90’s with the Japanese arcade machines.
The list is surprisingly starting to grow around the world.
If you look hard enough, spots are creeeeeping up that aren’t Dave n Busters or some giant play land place with kids running around like maniacs.
And a lot of them are incorporating drinks because us 90’s kids have now grown up and want to drink while we play 🤷♂
Golf Wang Barca
If there’s one thing I love, it’s a dope collab soccer jersey.
Like something you can wear beyond gym class.
Nike’s whole collab collection for the World Cup back in the summer got me salivating.
Plus the collabs they do with UK football culture are always fire.
With Spotify being the kit sponsor for Barcelona, they’ve been able to get extra creative with their jerseys through the years.
The latest Barca x artist collab is with Tyler the Creator’s Golf Wang brand.
I like the colours and Golf aesthetic, it’s very on brand for Tyler but I gotta LOVE Barca and/or Golf for me to want to spend $240 CAD on a soccer jersey.
Definitely a well rounded collection though.

He also just released a new line of Converse shoes.
Dope shoe, ngl.
